Information in Ukrainian is available for refugees

A small team of employees from the city administration and Deutsche Telekom quickly implemented a solution in the "Citykey" app, which bundles digital services for citizens, especially for refugees from Ukraine and helpers from Bonn. In this way, the city of Bonn wants to make even more people aware of the online services available at  www.bonn.de/ukraine (opens in a new tab) and  https://international.bonn.de/ukraine (opens in a new tab).

The app now contains a new "Information for refugees" tile. Depending on the language setting on the smartphone or mobile device, this is displayed in Ukrainian, English and German. Refugees can find all information from the City of Bonn here, including a link to apply for benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act.

The second new tile "Information for helpers" summarizes the main contact points for helpers from Bonn (accommodation options, donations, advice centers, telephone counseling).

The app can also be downloaded free of charge from the Ukrainian store. It is not necessary to register within the app.

Background to the development of the app

The QR code leads directly to the stores.

The structure and content of the app were developed in the Citykey community with the participating cities themselves, ensuring added value for the cities and their citizens.

"Citykey is the practical digital companion for everyday life in the city," says Michael Frank, Head of Smart City Deutsche Telekom. "With the city hall in its pocket, the city of Bonn is digitizing its administration quickly and cost-effectively. For the citizens, Citykey is the key to their city of tomorrow: they actively shape Bonn's city life. For us, this is a basic prerequisite for Bonn's attractiveness."

The vision is to offer citizens as many digital services of the city of Bonn and a wide range of information from the urban society in a single city app. Further services will be developed in joint community workshops. In this way, the app is constantly being further developed together. Users can share their opinions in the "Short surveys" and "Feedback" sections.

"The Citykey app is a successful example of networked and agile working in a committed team. The focus is always on the benefits for citizens," says Friedrich Fuß, Chief Digital Officer of the City of Bonn. "All users are invited to share their feedback via the app and contribute to the further development of the Bonn Citykey app."
