Since Monday, September 13, 2021, all Citizens Service Center offices have been equipped with self-service terminals. Citizens can now also take biometric passport photos and record fingerprints and signatures, which are also required for ID documents, at the Beuel and Hardtberg district town halls.

The service has been available in the Bad Godesberg district town hall since mid-January 2021 and in the Citizens Service Center in the City Hall since February 2017. There are currently four self-service terminals available to citizens in the waiting area in the City Hall. The branch offices each have one self-service terminal.

Users are guided through the registration process in either German, English, Spanish, French, Russian or Turkish. The data entered can then be retrieved digitally by Citizens Service Center employees from their workstations and processed directly. The cost of 4.50 euros for data entry is charged together with the administration fees at the counter and can be paid in cash or cashless.

The self-service terminals are certified by the Federal Office for Information Security. The data is recorded anonymously and without linking it to personal details under an ID number and is stored and transmitted in encrypted form. The information is deleted after 24 hours following retrieval by municipal employees.

Citizens who do not wish to use the terminal can continue to take biometric passport photos in a photo studio and bring them to their appointment. In this case, the remaining biometric data, i.e. signature and fingerprints, will be recorded at the operator station on site.
