Smart City Bonn

Digital Day 2021

The second nationwide Digital Day took place on Friday, June 18, 2021. As with last year's premiere, the city of Bonn took part with various activities.

These include, for example, the digital services offered by the Economic Development Agency, the upcoming relaunch of Stadtwerke Bonn's "BONNmobil" app and the presentation of new functions in the service portal as part of the project to implement the Online Access Act. There is also a podcast on the topic of "Strategy paper for the development of a smart city" with Friedrich Fuß, Chief Digital Officer of the City of Bonn, among others.

In addition to practical implementation within the administration, the City of Bonn is also involved in the further development of relevant technology. For example, a cooperation between the municipal utilities and Bonn/Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences is researching and testing LoRaWAN. LoRaWan is a radio technology designed to enable wireless networking within the SmartCity.

In another podcast, press spokeswoman Dr. Monika Hörig provides information about the city's digital communication and the opportunities for citizens to find out about the work of the council and administration.
