The City of Bonn's treasury and tax office has developed a QR code together with the city's IT department, which is now displayed on the city's reminder letters, warnings and fines as well as on reminders from the city's building management and bonnorange AöR. The giro code simplifies payment for citizens.

The giro code makes it possible to read out the data required for a transfer, such as bank details, individual reference number and payment slip number, via a banking app. To be able to pay a reminder in this way, the consumer's bank must have a banking app with a QR code reading function. This then enables the amount to be transferred conveniently by scanning the code with a smartphone.
