VertiGIS, a leading solution provider and software developer in the field of geographic information systems (GIS), today announced the completion of the acquisition of KMS Computer GmbH (KMS), a long-standing development partner and software specialist in the field of facility management. KMS is an established and proven provider of computer-aided facility management (CAFM) software based in Dresden, Germany.
VertiGIS is backed by global technology-based investment firm Battery Ventures, which brings together companies specializing in GIS and location technologies under this brand.
KMS is known for its GEBman software and has been supporting municipalities, industrial, service and utility companies with their facility and document management needs since 1990. The flexible, end-to-end solutions - based on the latest web technologies and suitable for internal or mobile use - integrate access to and analysis of factual data, documents and spatial information for facilities, properties and objects.
KMS has been working with VertiGIS for 15 years to bring ProOffice - a process-oriented software solution with optional GIS integration for infrastructure workflows based on GEBman technology - to customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The integration of KMS into VertiGIS ensures that the strategic planning and development of ProOffice and GEBman continue to be closely aligned.
"After 30 years, it was time for me to hand over the company to the next generation," explains Konrad Schulze, founder and former Managing Director of KMS. "Based on the many years of successful partnership and collaboration between KMS and VertiGIS, I know that we can combine the greatest strengths of both companies and expect that our joint customers will benefit from the expanded expertise and industry-leading know-how that we have developed over the years. Former sales partners have now become colleagues and we look forward to working together as one team."
Sebastian Schulze will move from CTO at KMS to the role of Managing Director, which he will perform together with Theodor Meusburger from VertiGIS. As an important part of the VertiGIS product portfolio, the KMS solutions will be available to customers from all sectors. The further development and distribution of the software will be supported by the global VertiGIS team.
"We look forward to working even more closely with our friends and partners at KMS," adds Holger Schade, CEO VertiGIS EMEA. "This gain will drive additional innovation as technological expertise can be increased. Facility management and maintenance solutions are key strengths of VertiGIS, and the joint development plans for ProOffice and GEBman fit perfectly into our product strategy."
