The City of Bonn is now offering an all-round improved service to all parents who are looking for a place for their child in a daycare center in Bonn: The new parent portal Kita-Net Bonn replaces the previous outdated kindergarten information system Kigan.
Kita-Net Bonn can be found on the Internet at http://kita-net.bonn.de (opens in a new tab) or via the City of Bonn's homepage, www.bonn.de. The portal links the city administration, kindergartens, their providers and families on a common database. All Kita can work with waiting lists that take multiple registrations into account. This means that the city administration and providers know better than before how many childcare places are actually needed.
Above all, the service is improved for all parents. They have the option of creating an individual user account for their online applications in Kita-Net Bonn. They can access their applications, acceptances, rejections and contracts anytime and anywhere via smartphone, tablet or PC.
The portal offers parents the following options, for example
● an application to several Kita;
● change applications at any time;
● an overview of the applications made;
● information on the current status of the processing of applications
● the binding acceptance of childcare place commitments from the Kita.
This is how Kita-Net Bonn works:
Kita-Net Bonn provides a comprehensive overview of Bonn's daycare facilities. It is possible to select a place according to individual criteria, e.g. by provider, location in a particular district or accessibility. The system provides comprehensive information on the kindergartens on offer. Parents can register for one or more facilities as early as three months before the birth of a child. Priorities can be given for the selected kindergartens.
The managers of the selected facilities can see the ranking of the selection in Kita-Net Bonn and check the allocation of places. After a binding commitment from a childcare facility, parents can accept the commitment online via Kita-Net Bonn within 14 days.
In Bonn, there are currently 80 daycare providers operating 207 publicly funded daycare centers that are listed in the new kindergarten portal.
"The new portal enables modern communication and an up-to-date registration process between parents and Kita," says Carolin Krause, Head of the Family Department. "In addition, the portal contains many practical innovations and administrative simplifications for the Kita."
